Family activity

Parco Natura Viva is the closest thing to safari near Lake Garda.

A family-friendly animal park near Bussolengo with a drive-through Africa Safari, walking route, and enough animals to make kids very happy.

Quick Take

Parco Natura Viva is one of the easiest family days to recommend near Lake Garda. My kid has been a few times and loves it. If you are not getting anywhere close to a proper safari, this is about as close as you are going to get around here.

It is not just a zoo walk. The big draw is the Africa Safari route, which you can do in your own car, plus the pedestrian route with animals and habitats from different parts of the world.

Best for
Kids, families, animal lovers, and a full or half-day break from lake towns.
Location
Localita Quercia, Bussolengo, Verona. Useful from Bardolino, Lazise, Garda, Peschiera, and Verona-side stays.
Main experiences
Africa Safari by car, walking route, Bus Safari with a guide, dinosaur area, daily talks, and extra experiences.

Africa Safari

The official site describes the Africa Safari as an experience done from your own car, with animals such as giraffes, antelopes, lions, spotted hyenas, and more along the route. For kids, this is the part that feels most different from a normal zoo.

There is also a Bus Safari option, where you ride with a park naturalist guide instead of driving yourself. That can be useful if you do not want the stress of driving through the safari route or if you want the guide commentary.

Walking Route

The pedestrian route is the other big part of the visit. The official site says the park has more than 1,500 animals from over 200 species, with habitats you explore on foot. That makes it more than a quick drive-through stop.

Tickets and Opening Hours

The official prices page currently lists online tickets from EUR 20, cash-desk prices for park and safari tickets, and a combined park + safari ticket. It also promotes season passes at a little more than the price of one ticket. These details can change, so check the official prices page before going.

The official hours page currently says the pedestrian route is open daily according to the calendar and the safari is available on park opening days, with safari access from 9:30. Again, check the official calendar before planning the day.

How to Get There

Parco Natura Viva is in Localita Quercia, Bussolengo, on the Verona side of Lake Garda. By car, it works well from Bardolino, Lazise, Garda, Peschiera, and Verona-side stays. Follow signs for Parco Natura Viva / Safari Park as you get close.

How I Would Use It in a Lake Garda Trip

I would put Parco Natura Viva into a family trip when the kids need something more exciting than another town walk. It works especially well if you are staying on the Verona side of the lake, around Bardolino, Lazise, Garda, Peschiera, or in the hills.

It is also a good option when you want a child-friendly activity that is not another theme park. Gardaland is rides and noise; Parco Natura Viva is animals, safari feeling, walking, and a different kind of day.
