Quick Take
Bardolino and Garda are easy places to enjoy a drink, but not every bar is the same. Some are for the view, some are for proper cocktails, and some are simply for a glass of local wine before dinner.
My rule is simple: lakefront for the view, side streets for better drinks, Punta San Vigilio when you want the evening to feel special. You may get snacks in some of these places, but the point here is the drink and the setting, not a full restaurant meal.

Punta San Vigilio for Sunset Drinks
Punta San Vigilio is the place I would choose when the drink is really about the setting. I went recently with a friend: two Americanos, two Proseccos, a beautiful sunset, and one of those Lake Garda moments that makes the price easier to accept.
It is not cheap, and I would not frame it as a casual budget bar. Go around 6 or 7 in the evening, have a drink by the water, and let the lake do the work. The restaurant next to the bar is much more expensive, so treat that as a separate decision.

These are the choices when the setting matters most: sunset, lake view, romance, or a drink that feels like part of the trip.
Punta San Vigilio / Locanda San Vigilio
- Best for
- Romantic drink, sunset, showing off Lake Garda
- Go for
- Wine, spritz, aperitivo by the little port
- Watch for
- Beautiful setting, not cheap
Punta San Vigilio is one of those places where you do not go because you found a bargain. You go because the setting is ridiculous. Sit by the old little port, order a drink, and let Lake Garda do the rest. It is romantic, historic, and a little expensive, but in this case the view is doing most of the work.
Riviera Terrace
- Best for
- Elegant aperitivo, couples, stylish sunset
- Go for
- Sparkling wine, cocktail, aperitivo
- Watch for
- More special occasion than casual beer stop
If Punta San Vigilio is the classic romantic option, Riviera Terrace is the more polished one. It feels less like grabbing a quick drink and more like pretending life is always this organized. Good for sunset, good for couples, and good when the drink should feel like part of the experience.
La Motta New
- Best for
- Beach drink, late afternoon, casual sunset
- Go for
- Spritz, beer, cocktail
- Watch for
- More lively, less romantic silence
La Motta New is where I would go when I want the lake without making it too precious. It is beach-bar energy: easy, casual, and better for a sunny afternoon or relaxed sunset drink than a serious wine moment.
Bardolino lakefront and beach bars
- Best for
- No-plan aperitivo, lake view, easy drink
- Go for
- Spritz, Chiaretto, Bardolino, beer
- Watch for
- Some places are better for location than for drinks
In Bardolino, sometimes the best drink is not about hunting the perfect bar. Walk the lakefront, look at the tables, and choose the one with the view you like. Just be honest with yourself: some lakefront bars are charging you for the view, not for mixology. That is fine, as long as the view is doing its job.
Best Cocktails and After-Dinner Drinks
These are better when you care about the drink itself, want something after dinner, or do not want another basic lakefront spritz.
Deja Blu Bar
- Best for
- Proper cocktails
- Go for
- Signature cocktail, whiskey, gin, wine
- Watch for
- Not just a basic lakefront spritz stop
Deja Blu is the one I would suggest when someone says, "I do not just want a spritz, I want a real cocktail." Bardolino has plenty of places where you can sit with a drink, but Deja Blu feels more intentional: better after dinner, or when the drink itself matters.
Lacus Bubbles & Gin
- Best for
- Gin lovers, cocktails, after-dinner
- Go for
- Gin tonic, craft cocktail, bubbles
- Watch for
- Small place; better for people who care about drinks
Lacus is for people who take gin seriously, or at least pretend to after the first drink. It is not the big obvious lakefront bar. It is more of a go-here-because-the-drinks-are-good place, especially after dinner.
Blanka
- Best for
- Late drink, gin, lively evening
- Go for
- Gin tonic, cocktail
- Watch for
- More fun/night vibe than quiet wine bar
Blanka is the Bardolino option when the evening is not finished yet. It is more cocktail bar and gintoneria than romantic lakefront postcard. I would suggest it after dinner, especially for people who want something with a bit more energy.
La Tradision Garda
- Best for
- Social aperitivo, cocktails, casual group drink
- Go for
- Spritz, cocktail, beer, wine
- Watch for
- More bar/aperitivo energy than quiet scenic hideaway
La Tradision is a good option when you want something easy and social in Garda. It is not as dramatic as Punta San Vigilio, but it works well for an aperitivo, a cocktail, or a drink before walking back into town.
Best Wine Stops
For wine, keep it local: Bardolino, Chiaretto, Lugana, Custoza, Valpolicella, and the Veneto bottles that make sense here.
Bottega del Vino
- Best for
- Wine in the centre
- Go for
- Bardolino, Chiaretto, Valpolicella
- Watch for
- Central, so not exactly hidden
Bottega del Vino is an easy one: central, convenient, and exactly the kind of place people expect to find in Bardolino. If you want a glass of local wine without making a big plan, this works. Keep it simple: Bardolino if you want red, Chiaretto if you want something fresh and pink.
Wine Bar Ca del Vin
- Best for
- Wine selection
- Go for
- Amarone, Valpolicella, local reds
- Watch for
- More wine-focused than cocktail-focused
Ca del Vin is more for wine people than spritz people. That does not mean you need to arrive wearing a velvet jacket and quoting wine scores, but it is the kind of place where the bottle list matters. Good if someone wants to drink Veneto, not just drink near Veneto.
Enoteca Alla Calle
- Best for
- Wine, local feeling, simple drink
- Go for
- Local white, Bardolino, Chiaretto, Valpolicella
- Watch for
- Small place, not big lake-view drama
Enoteca Alla Calle is the kind of place I like because it does not need to scream. Small wine bar, good bottles, simple atmosphere. If someone wants a proper glass of wine without paying for a sunset performance, this is a good Garda stop.
Regina Adelaide American Bar
- Best for
- Refined aperitivo, older couples, quiet drink
- Go for
- Classic cocktail, sparkling wine, aperitivo
- Watch for
- Not the place for loud nightlife
Regina Adelaide is the more elegant Garda option. Not beach-bar energy, not backpacker energy: more of a proper hotel aperitivo. I would send people here when they want a calm drink, good service, and a slightly more dressed-up feeling without making the evening complicated.
How I Would Choose
If you want the most beautiful setting, go toward Punta San Vigilio. If you want cocktails, stay in Bardolino and look at places like Deja Blu, Lacus, or Blanka. If you want wine, Bottega del Vino, Ca del Vin, and Enoteca Alla Calle make more sense than chasing the loudest table by the water.
For a no-plan evening, just walk Bardolino lakefront and choose a table with the view you like. It may not be the most serious drink of your trip, but sometimes the lake is the ingredient you came for.
